Obagi Nu-Derm Clear Fx promises to restore your youthful radiance by evening skin tone and reducing dark spots, so we were understandably eager to put it to the test.

It comes in a fairly thick cream, but not overwhelmingly so. It absorbs into the skin relatively quickly, so you don't have to worry about oily residue.

They recommend using a penny-sized amount, which seems like a lot, especially considering the price. Many other brighteners only use dime-sized amounts, which seems like a safer (and cheaper) alternative.

There's no strong fragrance or odor with the product, making it suitable for anytime use. However, it's recommended that you apply it at night, as it can have unwanted effects if you expose your skin to the sun with the Obagi on.

The active ingredient in the Nu-Derm Clear is hydroquinone, a controversial chemical (more on that in a minute) that has a strong effect on the skin. In fact, it's quite common to peel extensively the first week you use it.

Despite the immediate unwanted impact on your skin, it takes awhile to see results otherwise. It was only after about a month of using the Obagi that there was noticeable difference in tone and pigmentation, but it did have an effect.

If you're willing to wait for results (and put up with peeling in the meantime), then Obagi Nu-Derm Clear Fx is a worthwhile addition to your medicine cabinet. Still, there are other, gentler brighteners that are equally effective, if not more so.

Obagi Nu-Derm Clear Fx uses hydroquinone, which has potentially been linked to many serious diseases, including cancer. In fact, use of hydroquinone has been banned in Europe and USA, so proceed with caution.

Additionally, users with sensitive skin might want to steer clear of this product, as it can fry your face. The peeling is accompanied by redness and sensitivity, making this a brightener that's not for the faint of heart.

At Rs.9000.00 for a two-month supply, this brightener won't bankrupt you, but it's not exactly a steal, either. However, if you just want a brightener that works, this can be a good choice.

If you're willing to brave the hydroquinone and peeling, then you can do a lot worse than the Obagi Nu-Derm Clear Fx. You will see increased luminance and even skin tone over time, so if that's your primary concern, this is definitely a product to consider.
